El poema de 2006. Este es su poema de hoy: "Mr Moussaoui in his last chance":
Mr. Moussaoui in his last chance to be heard in public delivered a political speech about his hate for America concluding God curse America and save Osama bin Laden you’ll never get him America you lost and said he had won well Mr. Moussaoui if you look around this courtroom today every person in this room when this proceeding is over will leave this courtroom and they are free to go anyplace they want they can go outside they can feel the sun they smell fresh air youwill spend the rest of your life in a super-maximum security facility in terms of winners and losers it’s quite clear who won and who lost Mr. Moussaoui shot back that was my choice it was hardly your choice Judge Brinkema retorted as for you Mr. Moussaoui you came here to be a martyr and to die in a great big bang of glory but to paraphrase the poet T. S. Eliot instead you will die with a whimper Mr. Moussaoui tried to interject again and Judge Brinkema spoke over him saying you will never again get a chance to speak and that is an appropriate and fair ending

La poesía es, dijo el utilitarista, aquel tipode escrito en el que las líneas no llegan Hasta el extremo derecho de la página, y, en efecto, nollegan... Podrían llegar, si alguien Rectificase el poema, (Tú, mismo, lector, Quitando espacios), Haciendo un uso del papel más Utilitarista, Pero el estado actual de nuestra economía permite O aconseja conceder Un cierto margen al poeta, Y así pues Al margen derecho No Llegan Las L í n e a s . . .
Me he leído recientemente Pattern Recognition, una
novela de William Gibson que va mucho de post, entre otras cosas de
postmodernismo, de posts en foros de Internet y del shock traumático
post-11-S. Para ponerme más a tono, me he empezado a apuntar al foro/blog de William Gibson
. Un sitio muy recomendable para aficionados a la ciencia-ficción y a
esos posts. Allí he leído divertidas reflexiones sobre Gibson, por
ejemplo las de un tal the Blue Raj. Dice the Blue Raj sobre el síndrome
apocalíptico post-11-S: "we are
on the cusp of something, some strange and God all monster nodal point
that all the weird events of today are some odd harbinger of..." Gibson
in this instance is just one of several billion Jeremiahs atop the city
walls, wailing, ’Whoa lookit DAT!" We’ve entered not just a new century
but a new millennium. The still most powerful nation is decidedly
Xtian, and of an Apocalyptic bent. Y2K approached and gave us a very
real, even quantifiable End of World bogeyman. It was, in fact, so real
and quantifiable that WE WERE ABLE TO FIX IT... ...what a let down, eh?
World Not Ending after all. Then for USA at least, and its reflective
nemesis, militant Islam, the End was declared alive and well and nicely
imminent when two planes torched the Two Towers. The more rational of us
said something sensible like ’whathafuck?’ but the righteous saw them
as the Hammers of God or Satan. Summary: millennial fever started with a
wet firecracker. 911 lit the fuze and blew the lid off. Now we’re
rolling down not just a precipitous geopolitical incline, amid an
increasing pall of environmental meltdown and growing arsenals of WMD,
but we’re also sliding down a trough of mythohistory.

I seem to remember that the
actual sensible quote of the day, by a passerby on one of the broadcast
videos, was actually "Holy shit!" - which was both spontaneous and a
philosophically accurate description of the events.

caseros pasados una vez y otra hace cuatro años, al ver que un avión
impactaba en la segunda torre: "Holy shit"!, literalmente "¡Mierda
sagrada!" y equivalente en román paladino a algo así como "¡La hostia
puta!" Mal nombre le van a dar a la religión, en efecto, tanto los
abyectos fundamentalistas como el prepotente Bush – "with God on our
side", que ya se reía Bob Dylan.

Lamento que hayas tenido que ver eso, Rima; y más que suceda,
claro. Para ir captando el ambiente de Irlanda del Norte. Aparte de la
gente encantadora etc. que la hay en todas partes, en los lugares donde
se ha asentado un conflicto étnico, religioso o político de algún tipo,
el número de hijoputas por metro cuadrado es siempre superior a la
media, o por lo menos campan a sus anchas. Es para plantearse si habría
que acercarse a esos sitios... aunque si algo les puede ayudar es el
aire fresco que les llegue de fuera, y el turismo que hagan para salir
de las obcecaciones que llevan entre ceja y ceja, que a veces, como ves,
se convierten en un disparo. Muy triste.

No sé si este es el lugar adecuado o si mi comentario es pertinente
pero me ha impactado lo que he visto hoy y quería contarlo; iba al
centro de Belfast city andando, las cuatro de la tarde hora irlandesa,
cuando a unos diez metros el lamento de una mujer y los gritos de dos
hombres pegados al móvil me alertan de que algo sucede. Dudo, continuo
en isu dirección(la única posible) y la escena me paraliza a tres
metros; un chaval rígido en el suelo, de costado mirándome con un
agüjero entre ojo y ojo sobre la acera roja y una mujer susurrándole al
oído. Nadie podía hacer nada salvo llorar y sentir el sinsentido de la
violencia y el dolor que arrastra. No sé qué ha sucedido, ni existen
razones que puedan justificar una muerte así. La vida aquí aparentemente
es tranquila y pacífica y me consta que se hacen esfuerzos para que las
nuevas generaciones aprendan a convivir y a respetarse pero supongo que
los años de violencia dejan una huella profunda.
