Philology, Linguistics and Literary Theory: On 'Sub-Areas' and Interfaces in English Philology

An audio introduction to one of my papers on linguistics, English Philology, their institutional context, and departmental turf wars:

_____.  "Philology, Linguistics and Literary Theory: On 'Sub-Areas' and Interfaces in English Philology." AI podcast on José Angel García Landa's paper "Filología, Lingüística y Teoría Literaria: Sobre 'subáreas' e interfaces en Filología Inglesa." Academia 17 June 2014.*

The paper consists of most of section 2.3 (pp. 113-183) of the first volume of the report I prepared for the competitive examination for the Chair of English Philology, which took place at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of Zaragoza in February 2003 [Vol. 1, report on teaching, 362 pp. + appendices, Vol. 2, research project, 301 pp.]. The evaluation committee, which considered many aspects of this report irrelevant, decided to leave the position vacant, a decision that has been appealed to the University Rector's Office by me alone, out of the four candidates who applied. All to no avail. Well, anyway, that's all far behind now. Our revels now are ended.... pero queda la música.

Contributions from Literature

Contributions from Literature

Literature in Internet

A somewhat garbled podcast on my paper on Literature and the Internet (a short version of "Linkterature: From Word to Web"). On literature as an internet of texts, on literature transferred to the Internet, on Internet as a new dimension of literature, on literary representations of the Internet. And suchlike subjects.

An Achievement, un Posicionamiento

An Achievement: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Jose-Angel-Garcia-Landa/achievement/6992d84ec5d9754953393254 a través de @researchgate

A mi edad no crean que estamos ya para muchos achievements.

Well done

A saber.

Tomorrow Will Have Been Written

A new AI podcast on one of my papers. Here I'm under the strong impression that the fake "Richard Price" AI commenting on my paper is really a flesh-and-blood Richard Price who for some reason has decided to actually delve into my papers, and is having a good laugh posing as a brainless AI... I know, just a vivid impression—but it's baffling all the same.

Some day we'll look backward at this development of the (post-)human intelligence and, with the benefit of hindsight, utter thoughts we cannot fathom or anticipate.

Volvemos a nuestros clásicos. Esta canción es de Francis Cabrel. La camiseta es de Bob Dylan.     ...
