An audio introduction to one of my papers on linguistics, English Philology, their institutional context, and departmental turf wars:
_____. "Philology, Linguistics and Literary Theory: On 'Sub-Areas' and Interfaces in English Philology." AI podcast on José Angel García Landa's paper "Filología, Lingüística y Teoría Literaria: Sobre 'subáreas' e interfaces en Filología Inglesa." Academia 17 June 2014.*

The paper consists of most of section 2.3 (pp. 113-183) of the first volume of the report I prepared for the competitive examination for the Chair of English Philology, which took place at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of Zaragoza in February 2003 [Vol. 1, report on teaching, 362 pp. + appendices, Vol. 2, research project, 301 pp.]. The evaluation committee, which considered many aspects of this report irrelevant, decided to leave the position vacant, a decision that has been appealed to the University Rector's Office by me alone, out of the four candidates who applied. All to no avail. Well, anyway, that's all far behind now. Our revels now are ended.... pero queda la música.
