Lonelygirl Pattern Recognition

Se ha montado en la lista de distribución "Narrative" una discusión sobre el blog Lonelygirl, 15, que tiene a la gente discutiendo sobre su género, ficcionalidad, status, estructura narrativa... Hoy envío este comentario.

This lonelygirl phenomenon seems to follow a "life-imitates-art" pattern. At least it's reminded me (who done it, etc.) of the main mystery in the storyline of William Gibson's PATTERN RECOGNITION, which is about a mysterious fragmentary artwork which is posted on the internet and becomes a cult phenomenon in forums worldwide, part of the issue being its precise fictional or aesthetic status (framing, if you want) and the location of authorship... This is intertwined with other storylines about infectious marketing, memes, etc. all of which has a family  resemblance with the Girl 15 thing.
